St. Francis knew
and loved the psalms. In his Office of the Passion, for example, he drew
heavily upon the psalms in honor and praise of the Lord's Passion. Among all of the books of the Bible, the Book
of Psalms, found in the Old Testament, stands out. By any standard, the
psalms are poetic compositions of the highest quality. Comprised of magnificent
prayers and hymns for virtually any occasion, they are valid for all ages
and provide great comfort in times of special need.
It is our hope and
